A Bad Surprise and new music

While on vacation seven days ago, I got a call from my boss…bad news…the startup I work for was cutting our primary project…I would be out of a job in a week…CRAP!

Luckly, this was not the case…

I was lucky enough to be kept on for the unforseeable future to do a trial with an interested customer. It’s been are hard week spent saying goodbye to co-workers whom I considered friends. My company is pretty tight-knit…

So, since it is likely that I’ll be unemployeed again soon, out goes the resume…

I managed to process and add several mp3’s to the site…hope you chcek them out and I also hope you enjoy them…

This music is not for eveyone…so, if you “get it”, I’m glad… if you think, “What’s all this droning bullshit”, well….you have been warned. So listers find it makes them anxious or irritated…I think this is because there is no rythmic component or noticable verse and chorus structure. This music can be a challenge to those who aren’t naturally attracted to ambient music. No offence offered…hating the kind of music is cool with me…no offence taken or offered. :-) I can understand why people are not into it.

I love it though… Robert Fripp, Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana, Robert Rich, Stars of the Lid… I love them all.

I guess I should probably talk a little about what the music is to me.

Being a musician, I find playing music to be an attention grabber. This music is designed to NOT be that. It is intended to he “Heard, but not listened to”, a mood setting ambience in the background. I find it excellent for working, reading, meditation and my train commute. I hope you find a place for it in your life. Hey…it’s free….don’t expect much ;-)

I find the process of creating this music to be a form of meditation. I sit down, sometimes with no plan at all, and just play…whatever happens..good or bad…happens. It’s totally improvised and true to the moment in time in which it was recorded.

I got most of the gear set back up in my new studio space, not I need to find the time to play again. I’m interesting in adding some tribal rythmic elements to my future explorations. I’m soon to start looking for someone interested in filling this role…someone who is into odd percussion…acoustic and/or electronic. Do YOU know anyone in the Central to South New Jersey area how fits the bill???
